"The glamour of it all! New York! America!" - Charlie Chaplin

Elephant pants to
start the day
Today was a very lazy day. I was definitely very tired since I fell asleep late eating pizza and talking to my roommate. Although my version of sleeping in is apparently only sleeping until 10am and that's it. I eventually got up and went to buy some groceries at Fairway, one of the cheaper and bigger supermarkets. There were actually a bunch of grocery stalls outside of the grocery store, selling fruits, vegetables and ... even cactus. It was interesting to see. As I walked back home... I actually got rained on pretty hard as I was walking back home.

How beautiful is this? All the parks
have lovely little areas where
they have places where you can sit and
enjoy!
When I got back, I relaxed and unwinded a bit, watched some Malcolm in the Middle and just, in general, hung out until I decided I needed to head out. I was just walking down the street and enjoying the view. It was a beautiful day out, really chilly, much chillier than my sweater and my elephant pants, but I was on my way.

I was meeting up some friends at the KotexU first ever period shop! I had found it yesterday and people encouraged me to go again today. Today they had free massages and were doing our nails. It was actually really nice and relaxing. While we were waiting, they gave everyone FREE ice cream! They all had really cute names like "Cookies and Scream" and Vanilla "V" ice cream. It was quite witty.

Free massages ;D
We signed up and since the line up was so damn long, my friends and I decided to leave and then go back again. We headed down the street and hit up Anthropologie and took a look.

It was my first time there and my, my things were expensive. Notebooks themselves were like $20-30. I saw a sweater on the 'sale' rack and it was about $68. All I could think was "Man that's
Got my nails done for
the first time ever!
worth 68 slices of pizza. I could feed myself for like a month straight."

I'm probably not a good example for anything.

We headed back to the store and there were still SO many people. The line up was huge and I was scared that I wouldn't be able to get in! We were still pretty far back in line so we just hung out in the upstairs area where there was a lounge, free wifi, more ice cream, wonderful sofas and good company.

I ended up talking to the people downstairs and upstairs who had the lists. They were really nice and I think favourited me... Because even though I was very far down the list, they told me to go downstairs and get my nails done! I did and I even got a little pizza painted. it was pretty awesome and the girl who did it for me actually painted for people like Whoopi Goldberg! How cool is that?

They even had a photoboot!
I then went upstairs and the girl gave me a massage! It was so nice, so comforting and it really hit the spot. Really nice.

Afterwards, everyone headed out and I went with my friend from the UK to walk around a bit. We found a store with $1 pizza and found a nearby park to sit around in. It was beautiful weather, but so cold and so windy, which was a bit uncomfortable and made me shiver - especially because I was wearing so little.

Afterwards, I walked around for a bit since I had another tour coming up! I found a lot of really beautiful places in the city, they had so many parks which is great, I found out it was because people needed them when they wanted to escape the city and go back to nature. Pretty cool huh?

I sat down at the park I was meant to meet the tour people for my New York Highline at night tour. It
All the public parks have
these leaves on them to
show that they are public!
was super cool, not a lot of people at all (only about 5). We walked around for a bit in the meatpacking district and down the street where Alexander Hamilton died (Which the broadway show Hamilton [which is sold out all the time] is based on)! He actually died from a duel! A gun duel. Because it was illegal in New York at the time, all the witnesses of the duel actually turned their backs when they heard it happen.
When the gun went off, apparently he shot up in the air (Which is the sign to show that they either did not want to fight). No one knows whether it was by accident or on purpose. As I found out, Hamilton was apparently an amazing guy, he wrote up the whole banking system in the United States, helped the pass the constitution and was very influential. He was super cool. Look him up.

Super haunted hotel
We walked down to a place called the Jane Hotel which is "haunted." It was the place where all the survivors of the Jane Hotel actually went so sometimes at night you could hear the wailing and crying of the survivors. I kept walking and saw a bunch of places, such as one area where the Manhatten project actually was done!

Actually the West end is near the highway and it's quite loud and still busy on a Sunday night! As we kept walking down, we entered into the Meatpacking district (Also it was still insanely windy and cold). I found out that the metal roofs that are up there, with the wavy roofs are like that so that when they hung the meat up, it would drip down the roofs and onto the streets. The streets were literally dripping with blood.

Pizza on pizza
Afterwards, we walked up the New York high line which was beautiful. So originally, the railway was on the same level as the road, unfortunately it also meant that kids were hit and killed. So they finally convinced the city to bring it up to a higher level. Unfortunately, as trains started to become less popular, they actually stopped having the train. So they took it down and turned the whole place into a beautiful highline park.

As we walked by, we learned a bit about the history of the highline. There were a lot of apartments and hotels that were built up around the highline because they were so popular and such a trendy area.
Really cool, I found a small little park
and it had these cool composts in it!
We also walked past the factory where the first ever oero cookies were invented! We also learned a bit more about Sid and Nancy (Sid Vicious from Sex Pistols) and how they had overdosed in a hotel, etc. etc. I also found out that the Empire State building lights up different colours for special events. If you actually go to the Empire State Building website, then it'll tell you what the colours are and why.

They say this was designed to look
like an iceberg.. It was by where the
Titanic would have docked..
All in all, a great tour and I learned a lot but not as much as I could have since this was about my 3rd tour now in the Greenwich village area.

Colours for Emergency
services week!
Going home was one of the scariest experiences for me...I decided to walk up the highline all the way to 30th street. But it was cold, dark and there were no other people. And I was quite a few feet up in the air.

A bit scared. When I finally got down, I was quite chilly and parts of my body were starting to go numb (fingers and toes). I was walking around in a very industrial area and an area where a lot of the highway and cars go. It was a good way to learn not to do the same thing next time.

Wtf? Some weird "sleeping man"
artwork
As I was walking, I walked by Madison Square Garden AND Macy's on 34th (which is when I realized that that was where Miracle on 34th is based!) Howcool is that?

All in all, good relaxing, but cold day.
